2013 Marathon Calendar

2013 is here and just like the previous years, it is lined up with very fascinating sports events. In the UK, the 2013 marathon calendar is already out and athletes in different parts of Europe are busy training for the competitive events. The following is a list of some of some of the most competitive marathons to be held this year in different parts of the UK:

1. Anglesey Coastal Marathon
The Anglesey Coastal Marathon is to be held on 19th January 2013 in Holyhead, Anglesey Island starting from 9.00 am. The competition will be held along the island’s dedicated coastal path. More than 500 athletes and 500 spectators are expected to attend the event.

2. Gloucester Marathon 
The Gloucester Marathon is considered to be one of the most popular rural marathons in the UK. It will be held on 29th January 2013 in Gloucester starting from 10.00 am. Participants will be running on a flat road for about 320 miles. Apart from being given free T-shirts, each participant will also be given refreshments after for every miles covered.

3. Yorkshire Ultra – Marathon
The Yorkshire Ultra – Marathon is one of the most demanding winter events in the UK. The marathon will be held on 26th January 2013 in Whitby, Yorkshire. The 50-mile race is expected to thrill spectators as the athletes will be demonstrating their extraordinary running skills on a multi terrain. As the conditions are likely to be cold and snowy on the day of the event, spectators will be waiting with excitement to see the most professional and experience athletes competing for the ultimate prize.

4. Endurancelife South Devon Coastal Marathon
The Endurance South Devon Coastal Marathon remains one of the most popular coastal races in the UK. It will be held on 9th February 2013 in Beesands, Devon. The 500 athletes who are expected to compete against each other will be running on a very rugged coastline in a naturally beautiful rural setting.

5. Heartbreak Marathon
The Heartbreak Marathon will be held on 24th February in Godshill, Fordingbridge starting from 9.00 am. The challenging 26-mile race will start and finish at the Sandy Balls Holiday Centre. T-shirts and refreshments will be sold on site to boost the spirits of spectators. At the end of the race, all athletes will get a chance to cool off in the changing rooms, swimming pools, saunas, and Jacuzzi at the Sandy Balls Holiday Centre.

6. Enduirancelife Northumberland Coastal Marathon
The Northumberland Coastal Marathon will be held on 2nd March 2013 Bamburgh, Northumberland. The more than 400 athletes who are expected to attend will be running on flat track in a wonderful rural setting.

7. Steyning Stinger Marathon 
The Sreyning Stinger Marathon is one of the most challenging multi-terrain marathons in the UK. The marathon will take place on 3rd March 2013 in Steyning. Athletes will start the race will start at Storrington, head up to Bury Hill and then down to Silndon before heading back to Storrington. There are several prizes to be worn including medals and T-shirts.

8. Blackpool Marathon
The Blackpool Marathon is expected to take place on 7th April in Blackpool, Lancashire. Participants will start and finish the race at the Bloomfield Road Stadium. The stadium offers special facilities such as showers, changing rooms, onsite parking, and toilets. Winners will be awarded medals and cash prizes.
