Beach Life in Benidorm

Benidorm is best known for its buzzing nightlife, mild and dry weather and of course, its beaches. There are several beaches in Benidorm, but two of the best are Levante Beach and Poniente Beach.

Levante Beach in the east of Benidorm stretches over 6km and is known as ‘the sunrise beach’, because of the partying that goes on here in the evenings. It’s the ideal spot for carrying on the fun if you’re on a clubbing holiday with a group of friends, or it’s just as good for visiting during the day to soak up some sun.

Levante gets busy during the day in peak summer months but there are lots of sunbeds so you should be fine grabbing a spot. There are shops, bars and cafes lining the promenade behind the beach so you won’t be short of places to grab a beer and bite to eat or take a break from the sun.

As well as being fun for groups of mates, Levante is a good beach for families during the day, with its sands cleaned daily and the shore sloping gently into the sea making it ideal for paddling and splashing about. There are colourful picture signs along the beach which act as meeting points – perfect if you have slightly older children and need to arrange to meet them somewhere later on.

Lifeguards regularly watch the beach, from 9 in the morning to 8pm in summer months (another reassuring factor for families) and there are decent play areas for children. As for adults, there are plenty of watersports to have a stab at, including water skiing, paragliding, jet skiing and scuba diving.

To the west is Poniente Beach, which is the calmer and more serene alternative to Levante. With masses of fine, soft sand and slightly fewer crowds, Poniente Beach is perfect for families and couples looking for somewhere peaceful to relax, sunbathe, have a paddle and generally just chill-out at.

As in Levante, the beach at Poniente is cleaned daily and there are cafes, bars and shops along the promenade, so you’ve got plenty of options if you want to stop off for lunch somewhere. Fiesta Park Hotel Benidormis just a short stroll from Poniente Beach and the nearby town of La Cala has plenty of additional accommodation to choose from if you want to stay somewhere quiet and peaceful with easy access to more bustling areas of Benidorm by bus or car.
