How to Use Rugs When Decorating – Infographic

When you first arrive home after having a new baby, practical considerations (at least ones that don’t involve nappies and night feeds) are probably far from your mind. However, pretty soon these practical things will start to become real. Below we discuss how to choose a rug for your kid’s bedroom, and give you some tips.

First of all, as you will now know if you have a new baby, babies can be messy, and therefore you will have to take this account when you choose a rug. For example, perhaps choose a darker color, ensure that it is washable, and that the fabric is as hard wearing as possible. Wool is a great material for these purposes, though it can be expensive. An alternative to it can be a cowhide rug, which can be a great option. Secondly, you will want a fabric that is kind to your baby’s skin and does not chafe too much, especially if they are just beginning to crawl. Wool is probably a good idea in this instance too.

Particularly if they are a little bit older, your kid’s main concerns about the new rug will be aesthetic. Does it have picture of their favorite cartoon character, or a scene from their favorite film? Can it be used as a puzzle board, or is there a football field emblazoned on it that can be used as part of a game? Luckily, nowadays many rugs are available that can actually be used as part of your child’s play and learning, and with which both you and your little one can have hours of fun.

This is obviously not an exhaustive list, but it will give you food for thought. You may still be having sleepless nights with your little one, and therefore every little bit of advice will definitely help. I know it helped me!
