About Us

Hello. My name is Kath Thompson but you can call me Kath. Welcome- Pull up a chair, grab a coffee and make yourself comfy.

Let me start by introducing myself. I am 33 years old, married with two gorgeous kids (biased of course). Ryan is 9 and Jada is 6. Although I have two biological kids, I seem to have about a million ‘adopted’ ones. My kids’ friends think I’m kinda cool and my house has subsequently been turned into a dumping ground for their said parents. Although hectic at times, I love a house bustling with kids and wouldn’t have it any other way. Mad?  Perhaps.

When my daughter was born, I decided to become a full time mom. (Sadly I used to work in insurance). I felt incredibly torn and thought that if I wasn’t going to give my precious angels the attention they deserved, who would? Needless to say, the following week I got the OK from hubby and resigned. So here I am. It took a lot of getting used to and my days often consisted of no more than laundry and cooking. However, as time went on, I learnt to adapt and now my days are so full that I crumble into bed at night, totally shattered. Shopping, cooking, after school activities and homework call for a very busy day. And yes, it is fulfilling. I get a lot of “what do you do all day?”  What DON’T I do? This makes my previous job seem like a day at the beach!

Believe it or not outside my role of mother, teacher, cook, nurse and psychiatrist I enjoy fishing, painting and going for long walks in the mountains. (Where I can find one) How do I find the time?  Easy. I make it.

The reason I have chosen to start this page is simple. I have the greatest job in the world and I wish to share my experiences (The good, the bad and the ugly).  We are all in this crazy whirl wind together, right? This thing called parenting that we are all trying so hard to master. As a parent for almost 10 years, I have a great deal of advice and stories just bursting to come out. Here you will witness first- hand what it’s like to raise kids and what they get up to. I will focus on general parenting topics such as breast feeding and colic right up to the first day at school and what sport to choose.

It is extremely important for me to emphasize that parents are not alone and that help and advice is out there. We will also incorporate a question and answer stream on the site. This will enable parents to get the help they need anonymously if they so wish. No question is silly. We have heard it all!

We embrace you all and can’t wait to get chatting and sharing and laughing together!
